Our Profile
Safer Community Initiative of Liberia with Regional office in Tubmanburg is a non-governmental organization registered in 2019 with the overall aim of working to provide the environmental condition of communities in Environmental Protection and Sanitation(environment Education, Shipping (Chandelling and Stevedoring ), Soil testing and protocol, water testing and purification, Promotion of Hygienic and safe guiding protocols of water, research); Public health best practices in school(Campaign messages, Research and Clinical Methodology of Disease Control, training and Community involvement in common health practices); Agriculture (Crop Production, Animal husbandry, agricultural marketing & Product Processing)and Governance(Youth Advocacy, Peace Building, Rule of Law, Conflict Management and Resolution) programs in our society.


Safer Community Initiative of Liberia has five major thematic focus including a) Environmental Protection; b) Public Health; c) Agriculture; d) Youth Advocacy &Protection, Forest and land Use, and Sanitation. Our gender strategy is being developed within the framework of our thematic focus of training/awareness and research programs. We are particularly active in promulgating issues directly impacting the issues of domestic violence, environmental protection and control, soil and water pollution, hygienic condition and control, sexually transmitted diseases, malaria, and HIV/AIDS. SCIL implemented a small Climate change awareness project in six selected communities in Bomi County to increase public knowledge about the causes and effects of deforestation and engagement with reforestation by setting up 6,000 forest seedlings nurseries from Forumciv for a period of eleven months (December 2020-October 2021). SCIL is implementing a project from ForumCiv entitled “Climate Smart Action for the Promotion of Sustainable Land and Environment Management in Manna and Lower Logar Clans (CSPESLEM) for a period of three years (2022-2025). In Bomi County. SCIL is also implementing UNDP Small grant project Title “Enhancing Community Biodiversity Conservation Efforts in Liberia (ECoBioCEL) in Cape Mount for the period of ten Months. SCIL has a functional board of three Members.
